What we keep, and why.

The short version: we ask for your email so we can save your spot and send you the details. We don’t sell it, and we don’t show you ads.

What we collect

  • Your email. When you tap “I want this” or “I’m going,” we ask for your email. If you use Google or Apple instead, we also get the name on that account.
  • What you tap. Which sessions you want, which you’re going to, and which you offer to guide.
  • What you type into a form. Session ideas, offers to guide, and requests to bring a group.
  • A sign-in cookie. It keeps you signed in so you can see My sessions. With it we store your IP address and the kind of browser you use, which helps us stop abuse.
  • A few things on your own device. Your browser remembers your email and your taps so the page shows them right away. You can clear them by clearing site data in your browser.

Who sees it

  • The organizers. The volunteers behind AI Friday run AI January. When you fill in a form or tap a button, it shows up in our private team chat in Slack, with your name or email, so we can follow up.
  • The services that run the site. Cloudflare hosts the site and stores our data. Resend sends our emails. Google or Apple, if you use them to sign in.

That’s it. We don’t sell your information or hand your email to sponsors.

How we count visits

We use two tools to see how many people visit and which pages they read.

  • Umami counts visits without cookies and without knowing who you are.
  • Google Analytics uses cookies to tell new visitors from returning ones. Google’s own page explains how it uses that data.

If you block these with an ad blocker or your browser’s settings, the site still works.

Our emails

We email you about AI January: your sessions, calendar invites, reminders and updates. Want them to stop? Write to us at the address below and we’ll take you off the list.

Seeing or deleting your information

Email january@aifri.day and we’ll send you what we have, fix it, or delete it. Questions about this page go there too.
